Standards of Affiliation

Verify my PTA's Good Standing

To set all of the Plano PTAs up for success this school year, Plano ISD Council of PTAs has compiled a checklist of tasks to complete to be considered in “Good Standing” with Texas PTA. These are known as the “Standards of Continuing Affiliation.” We encourage the PTAs to complete these items as soon as possible, but no later than October 31st.

TX PTA Standards of Affiliation

  1. 990 Acceptance: File your 990 with the IRS within 60 days of the end of your fiscal year (earlier than the standard IRS deadline!). This will be September 1st for most Plano PTAs.
  2. Officers: All Executive Board members should register with Texas PTA. This is also how the PISD Council of PTAs will collect your contact information. Register Here
  3. Members: Submit state and national dues and contact information for at least 20 of your members to Texas PTA. Submit Here
  4. Bylaws and Standing Rules: Check the date at the top of your bylaws and standing rules if you have them. They need to be updated and submitted to Texas PTA for approval every 3 years. Bylaws and Standing Rules

As you work through this “Good Standing” list, you can check your status on the Texas PTA Local Roster. Find the link on this page: Local PTA Leaders. Bookmark this spreadsheet to refer back to it during the year.

Additional Tasks

All officers should be familiar with your PTA’s Bylaws and Standing Rules. Request a new copy from TX PTA after August 1st each year to ensure you have the most current version. This is especially important this year, as many Plano PTAs have amended their membership dues amounts. Please confirm that the correct amount is shown in your bylaws. Request Bylaws

Submit Plano ISD Council of PTAs Dues

To be considered an active member of the Plano Council of PTAs, your PTA must pay the yearly dues of $75. Please submit payment before our first Council Delegate meeting on September 19, 2024. Online and printable payment options are available. Submit Payment

All officers should be familiar with their duties and responsibilities. Share this list with your officers and ask them to complete the online training provided by TX PTA. The Secretary should keep copies of the completion certificates on file. Texas PTA Officer/Chair Training
