Early voting happens from April 22-30 for the May 4 local election. See what will be on your ballot by entering your address into www.vote411.org. Check voting locations and hours on the county elections website. The voter turnout is usually less than 10% in local elections. Your vote counts!

Sharon Bradley, PISD Director of Family & Social Services, testified in support of HB 4454. This bill calls for statewide Social Emotional Learning standards, which could benefit every student in Texas. The testimony begins at 50 minutes into the 4/17 Public Education Committee video.

This legislative report shows that HB 3 would decrease Plano ISD’s recapture by ~$100 million and increase the per-student allotment by $640 in fiscal year 2020.It passed a House vote on April 4 and will probably be heard in the Senate Education Committee next week. Texas PTA supports HB 3.

A list of bills related to the PISD PTA's legislative priorities, including their progress, is available on the PISD PTA website. You can also find information there about how to contact legislators about bills.
