33 new voters were registered at Plano West Senior High, thanks to PTA and Student Congress! Karen Richards did a great job coordinating this event.




Meet the candidates for PISD Board of Trustees and Collin College Board of Trustees on Tuesday, April 2, 6:30-8:30 pm, at the PISD Administration Board Room, 2700 W 15th St. This is hosted by the PISD Council of PTAs and the League of Women Voters of Collin County. Find more information.


 


We will vote for ISD Trustees, Collin College Trustees, City Council, and bond propositions in the May 4 local election. The voter registration deadline is April 4. CHECK if you are registered to vote. Here is more information about voter registration.


 


The Texas House passed budget bill HB 1, which includes a $6 billion increase in public education funding and $3 billion for property tax relief. Find out more about it in this article.


 


The House school finance bill, HB 3, was voted favorably out of committee. A merit pay provision was removed after objections from teachers unions. Like the overall budget bill, HB 1, it calls for a $6 billion increase in school funding and $3 billion for property tax relief. HB 3 is scheduled for a vote in the House on April 3. The Texas PTA would like members to respond to this survey by April 1 about the STAAR test in order to guide their advocacy.
