Early voting is from October 22 – November 2, and Election Day is November 6. In Collin County, we can vote at any polling location.  Remember to take an ID.


 

Public school finance is sure to be an important topic in the upcoming legislative session. Everyone is invited to attend a forum on Thursday, November 15, 6:30-8:30, at Haggard Library. Senator Royce West is a member of the interim Texas Commission on Public School Finance, which has been developing recommendations. Plano ISD Board of Trustees President Missy Bender and Frisco ISD Chief Financial Officer Kimberly Smith will explain taxparency and the impact of recapture on local school districts. Here is some information about recapture, taxparency, and education funding cuts.


 


Nominations are open for various national PTA advocacy awards, including youth, member, local PTA, and state PTA awards. The deadline is December 14. Here is more information.


 


Students in grades 9-12 are eligible to submit artwork in a brand contest for the Texas Permanent School Fund, which supports public education. The deadline is November 1.  Find more information on the TEA website.


 


Everyone is invited to attend the next Plano ISD Council of PTAs delegate meeting on Tuesday, November 27, at 10:00 at the Plano ISD Sockwell Center, 6301 Chapel Hill Blvd, Plano 75093.
