It seems like April and May are all about transition and training. Plano ISD Council of PTAs is transitioning alongside our local PTAs.

In that light, here's a huge welcome to the new 2016-2017 Plano ISD Council of PTAs officers, who were elected on March 15, 2016:

 Informational Meetings About Bond Initiative

Plano ISD community members are invited to attend any of six informational meetings, to be hosted this spring, about the district’s May 7th bond election proposal. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian Binggeli will present information and answer questions.

 Reflections 
2015-2016

The PISD Council Awards Ceremony, for students who placed at the district level, will be on Wednesday, April 13, 6:30-8:30pm, at Sockwell Professional Center.  Invitations have been sent out via inner-school mail.  There will be fabulous prize drawings at the end of the ceremony!

Great American Cleanup

The Great American Cleanup (GAC) is the nation's largest community improvement program, taking place annually from March 1-May 31.

Plano's official date is Saturday, April 16, from 8:00-11:00am.

 Love Where You Live

Please join us on Saturday, April 23, 2016, to provide services in the Armstrong Park and Plano Park neighborhoods of Plano.  Area-wide service projects include litter cleanup in the neighborhood or neighborhood creek, or storm drain labeling.

Drug Take Back Day

The Drug Enforcement Agency has elected to once again host the National Drug Take Back Initiative in 2016. 

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day addresses the vital public safety and health issue of proper disposal of unused medication.

Council Supports PISD Bond Proposal

On March 15, 2016, at the council regular meeting, Plano ISD Council of PTAs voting body elected to support the Plano ISD bond proposal. Plano ISD Council of PTAs approved the official support statement:

“Plano ISD Council of PTAs supports the Plano ISD $481 million bond proposal that will be voted upon on May 7, 2016, by Plano ISD voters.”

President's training will be held on Monday, May 16, 2016, at the Plano ISD Administration Building, 2700 West 15th Street, Room 309, Plano, TX, 75075.  Choose either the morning session from 10:00am-12:00pm or the evening session from 6:30-8:30pm.

The Plano ISD Council of PTAs invites all local unit board and chair members to our annual general PTA meeting and awards ceremony, with new Council board installation, all starting at 9:00am.

Officer and chairman training sessions will be held from 9:45am-2:20pm (detailed schedule to be announced soon).

Everything In Its Place Field Trip Spots Available

The City of Plano Sustainability & Environmental Education Division is offering a 1st Grade Field Trip at the Environmental Education Center(EEC) this semester on a few dates in May.  It's open to all Plano ISD first grade students.    Please refer to the flyer for more information.  There is limited availability, so please register early.

Ozone Season!

Ozone season, the time when we see the highest levels of ozone, starts between March and May in many parts of our state.  The Dallas-Fort Worth area has the longest forecast season.  During ozone season, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) provides Ozone Action Day forecasts for nine metropolitan areas of Texas.
